Use colour to define a dual-purpose study

If your study is also used as a guest bedroom or storage area, it’s a good idea to define where the working space starts and ends – or you may just find yourself sleeping when you should be working. Does your desk face a wall? Decorate that wall with one shade that stimulates your creativity and visually separates that space from the rest of the room.

If your study space is also used for guests, add a few personal touches like a beautiful painting, a vase of fresh flowers or a framed photograph to ensure that the room always looks nice if guest come. A study usually ends up with lots of leftover items, so make sure there are plenty of places to store them. Open shelves are a great way to show your favourite things - and an easy way to give your study space an instant boost of personality.
