Be dazzled by golden hues from North America
Autumn in North America turns trees into works of art.
After the glorious greens of summer, the leaves of trees and bushes in Northern parts of America and Canada start to become golden, creating a beautiful landscape filled with intense colours. You can only be amazed by the variety of yellows, reds, oranges and golds. But have you ever stopped to think about how the leaves change their colours?
It’s all caused by a reaction in the leaves to the decreasing sunlight in the colder months. Chlorophyll, a substance in the leaves which makes them green, starts to decrease. When the green fades, it lets other substances shine through, which reveals all kinds of lively shades in the leaves.
If these colours of nature make your heart sing, look to golden hues like honey, pumpkin, marigold, auburn and copper. Try recreating this colour combination at home by pairing golden yellows and oranges in varying shades or add a sophisticated warm neutral, like mocha or cinnamon, to balance the vibrancy of the gold.
